i won't have this dissin' coco steel & lovebomb... no seriously, as far as house at the time, it was pretty smooth. i also liked their ambient "field recording" type stuff. of course the last warp thing i even kinda liked was that phonecia thing. if it wasn't for autechre (and just barely) and the upcoming two lone swordsmen, i would totally write them off. i thought that max tundra thing was crap. of course, by now i've had it up to *here* with distortion wankery. what, it's no good unless yer damaging yer gear? oh, i forgot, headache inducing distortion now comes as a mac plug-in... besides, everyone knows warp's worst moment was "devestating beat creator" (most of you are too young to have a clue of which i speak...) on now: hab "pan (journeyman's peekaboo)" (dot) cameron ===================================== cameron bowden cameron@imagina.com blacksmith on the anvil in your ear _____________________________________

"join the future" is a classic around these parts, it's got everything a warp release should, crispy drum sound selection, mysterious midranges, and a verily bumping bassline which does a little stop and drop nicely. perhaps maybe it was the circumstances upon which I heard it that makes it so special (basement "rave" aching ages ago, off fat grooved 12" not scimping compilation width 12") maybe you all didn't like the Thomas - Architecture 12' either, but then I'll know you gwankrayz. tp np: "cha cha cha" - mc lyte

you're right, i just meant that period.. at the time i rote i couldn't actually remember the names 'tuff little unit' and 'the step'

not an aphex fan then?

yeah, me too. brain enters sleep mode after about 10% of the track. sounds like freeform

controversial..... we're entering a new era of distortion, much more intense than weedy analogue rubbish - 700dB eq sounds great early in the morning distortion has its place, but it's not often used well. people just layer distortion onto everything and *then* it sounds wank - there should be distortion sounds and lovely clean sounds like annie singing something from her film

i wouldn't say so.. blime it's years since i heard that. personally i really dig a lot of stuff from the 'golden age' of jungle.. i'm currently discovering loads of gems from the reinforced back catalogue - 4 hero's 92-94 eps are the business! unfortunately they cost a fortune to track down these days. <waves> np - g. bryars - raising the titanic the airfix mix

I don't know what means 'shoddy' but I think I know abaout which track you are refering... It's THE STEP "YEAH YOU" IMO, and IMbrother'sO this is one of the best tracks Warp ever released... sorry, that's just our opinion and that's why we are here --> because of different opinions . bye rob np: Baby Ford "Beach Bump (US Bumpy Club Mix)

I'd have to agree with you. Picked up the wap51cd Summer Rain for $3 in the bargain bin. For the time (hell even now...) the house was great....took me back a bit!
