Two new tracks at http://soli.inav.net/~kent/music/ "alias elias" http://soli.inav.net/~kent/music/alias.ram The loop is from the Jazz pianist Elaine Elias. After listening to a lot of Steve Reich I experimented with playing the same loop twice, with one copy slightly shorter than the other. In this case the piano, bass and cymbals gradually drift about a 1/4 note apart throughout the track. To this I added some slow crunchy breaks that mutate over the course of the track. Rather monochromatic, but soothing. "super ape in a good shape (e.b. re-dub)" http://soli.inav.net/~kent/music/ape.ram This takes short excerpts from "Super Ape in a Good Shape" by Lee Perry (from the Album "Lee Perry & the Mad Professor: The Arkology Experryments") and reconstitutes a track with new beats, courtesy of Martin Fay's mad software synth VAZ PRO. The bit of Lee Perry a capella at the start is him singing the bassline to the bass player at the beginning of the track. If you've never experienced Lee "Scratch" Perry, you owe it to yourself to check out his work, which goes back nearly 30 years. Special favorites of mine are the 3 disks of his sound clashes with Mad Professor (on Ariwa in the US), and his production work with Max Romeo on "War Ina Babylon." Other breaking news about me (like anyone's interested) -- playing live March 5th (next thursday) in Iowa City, along with DJ Earl-E, Tack-Fu productions, and the inimitable vocal stylings of Crystal. I may have tracks on Earl-E's upcoming full length (put out locally in Iowa City) that comprise my re-working of his turntablism with the sampler. The return of Electronic Music Project is in the offing this spring. Louder, phatter, weirder. I can't wait to hear again from the gentleman from the lowlands who bought EMP 1 because, as he said: "I have a large warm spot for the teens and twenties."

Check them both out! They are both very good! Kent's track on the original EMP disc was the best of the lot, imho. So what other music of yours do you have released for sale to the unwashed masses? Thanks, John
