stuart from 4th world told me a while back that all of the MAS stuff is played at 45 except the esterman, which you can figure out yourself because there's about 3 or 4 tracks per side as opposed to 2 tracks on the funkstorung 12"s. -kiya np:max tundra-children at play whooweee! 12 minute tracks never sounded so good...

From my limited experience as a DJ I'd have to say (as a rule of thumb) that since this is a dance market dependent on dj mixability, most trax do not go below 100bpms... and if at 33 those trax sound like grinding metal, then they are probably to damn slow. On the other hand, another way to view this 'oh so great' medium of musical conveyance (i.e. vinyl) is in regards to flexibility. If it sounds good at 45 and was ment to be played at 33, then who gives a shit? If those crazy kids that produced the material were so casual about not labeling the play speed, then I would surmise that they had this kind of flexibility in mind. Just my $.23 o0o[qiB.]o0o

bla bla. so predictable. it's just that this record is so cool (except track b1 that is) at both speeds that i was wondering how the artist(s) meant it to be. relax please :) --- peter cozijn aka frame/twist twist underground dance music: http://come.to/twr (new address!)

If it is so predictable, then why ask the question?

I don't doubt that, but as an artist myself, I can tell you that most labels allow some creative license in regards to label design... if it wasn't listed, then generally the artists have PRECONCEIVED the concept that the tempo wasn't important. They may have written it at xxx bpm, but since the final manifestation of their music was going to be this medium, many people write with that final stage in mind. o0o[qiB.]o0o btw- as I'm sure you already know, a record that can sound sik at both speeds is far and few between... couple that with the fact the rpm setting wasn't listed (also something that rarely happens) and your betting against the odds that it wasn't intentional...

yeah exactly .. I am really baffled by people's queries as to 33/45 .. Maybe it's just me , but it takes about 2 secs to work out the correct speed of any record ?
