I haven't read the ads for the new While CD, and wouldn't really compare it to anything, because I hate that. I have his MaS 12", and I really really love it. It's serene, has great beats, and I've not gotten sick of it. I often find that the melodies slip into my head when I'm daydreaming at work. I can't wait to hear the new CD. I'd buy it if I were you.

I'd say it sounds more like _Amber_-era Autechre meets "Cichlisuite"-era Autechre. It's a very enjoyable slice of music, though. -- Adam J Weitzman, NewsEdge Corp. http://www.newsedge.com - http://www.individual.com "Humor is the best way of dealing with complete and utter nonsense." - John Lydon --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I agree, the "while" 12" is a real keeper among the MaS releases, along with the Electric Sheep and Aemic vinyl. I come back to it almost as much as F.X. Randomiz - "Goflex". I can't wait to hear a real review of his new release. (or even new Bola? Somebody must have promos.. how does the "shapes" release fit into all this?) that's funny - your description of while is exactly how i was thinking i'd describe the new arovane cd. :) this isn't a slight against it, i really rather like everything i've heard by him... ethan "Jason J. i enjoyed While's MAS 12" but i'm disappointed with the new full length on chocolate industries. too gloomy and autechre wanna-be for me to really enjoy. to be fair, the booklet states that the tracks are from 1996-1998 so i'm going to assume that the MAS 12" ('seek') was newer material and that he's making better tracks these days. now as for autechre-like stuff i can enjoy... 'tascal_7' & 'amine' on arovane's 'atol scrap' full length are really quite enjoyable! oh, and the 'shapes' release pretty much sucks to my ears, but i don't think much of 'soup' either. to be helpful i will say that shapes has a more hard edge, low-fi sound than 'soup', you know that dark and dirty skam sound... -- On Tue, 14 Mar 2000 19:01:25 Andrew Schrock wrote:
