->On that note.. is anyone aware to where one can still find ->Rob Swift's "Soulful Fruit" on CD? Last time I checked, ->my usual outlets were still out of stock on this title. if you want SOULFUL FRUIT on vinyl . . . i would check dropbeat.com and ask them if you do not see it. i have a copy and it is a terrific "mix-tape" release from the archives of rob swift. it includes some nice abstract HH scratch-maniacs, great funk interludes, and a DJ battle with rahzel of the roots (i.e. dj tricks vs. beat-box skills). definately worth any ca$h you find it for. ADDITIONALLY: it was noted that qbert did all the scratching on the dr. octagon project. he really shows his stuff on the instrumentalyst version. on this abstract note, i have the following for sale/trade: v/a: altered beats - axiom - 162-531-046-2 v/a: return of the dj volume two - bomb - BOMB2003 dr. octagon: instrumentalyst - dreamworks - DRMD-50022 cut chemist vs. shortkut: live at the future primitive soundsession michael michael j. pickering washington state university six41@scientist.com _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ / _ _ __/ /_/ f / /\ / /_ _ _/_ _ _ o / / \ / __ s /\ / r / o / / / /_/ i / \__/ t / n / / /_ _ _ _x_/ / /_y_/_e_/ / \ \ / \ \ \ / \_ _ _ _ _\/ \_ _\_ _\/ if.animals...believed.in god...the..devil...would look.like.a.human..being

What the hell are you talking about? Nearly all of Q-Bert's scratching was REMOVED from the 'Instrumentalyst' versions, along with Keith's vocals, and replaced with flute solos and so forth. The 'Instrumentalyst' album might as well be an Automator solo release. I strongly suspect _Instrumentalyst_ was the basis for _Dr. Octagon_, rather than the other way around. In other words, seems to have started as an Automator project, rather than ending up that way. --Mark __ <http://www.xnet.com/~mkolmar/BurningRome> < MPEG & RA audio clips > Forthcoming CD SENSELESS on Mindfield Records MINDCD03 Cathartium 14 m u s i c : w e b : s o u n d d e s i g n : h t m l : c g i : e t c "I'm a liberal guy too cool for the macho ache with a secret tooth for the cherry on the cake" -- Prefab Sprout, "Cruel"

Check the liner notes. Q-Bert is listed on the vocal album, and not on the instrumental version. Also, Keith raps on Automator releases, so the arguement of what came first is rather pointless. At 08:03 PM 2/20/98 -0800, you wrote:
