i'm looking for opinions on some em:t releases; beatsystem, undark, miasma, gas, & quibism. I like everything I've heard so far (em:t 2000, & em:t 1194), and wunder if the quality is a constant. Thanks in advance.

ive picked up the woob cd way back when (the one with the penguins on the cover) and thats a pretty good listen...kinda "ethno-ambient-soundtrackish" i guess id call it. the gas release you ask of isnt mike ink by any chance is it?

Wunder no more :-) I've got a 1996 double Em:t sampler titled "Explorer" which covers : Bad data / woob / international peoples gang / a small, good thing / qubism / miasma / the ear / gas / beatsystem / voodoo warriors of love / qubism / david toop / mendocino / carl stone What can I tell you? I have the woob 1194 CD which I adore and International PG 3395, which I play less often - and this sampler just sits here gathering dust. It just doesn't seem to move or go anywhere ... maybe that's not really a fair description of something ambient, but for *me* this is just a tad too obscurely boring. Happy to dub you a copy, Colin :-) I * "Incomplete without surface noise" - Autechre

in general, a resounding YES...there are a few, however (carl stone, beatsystem and undark to some extent) that suffer too much from the "spoken word syndrome", imo of course... tom w sp: kw - san francisco 75 (kometenmelodie)
