G'day, [cross-posted to a few lists - so forgive the off-topicness of some stuff] Saw the following yesterday: MIXMAG LIVE HISTORY 3 CD3 Volumes 9,11,13 : Alex Patterson, Mixmaster Morris, Mr C, Sven Vath, Darren Emerson, Dave Angel I'm not that familar with the Mixmag series - seen 'em around, but never got around to listenening to 'em. So how does this 3CD set stack up? Is the Alex Patterson set in mono (like Textures/Auntie Aurey's Excursions)? What about the MMM set? What style is it? Ambient/chill-out? How would the other sets rate? Style/genres? Quality? In short, worth picking up the three CD set? Or are some to be avoided? Cheers, Geoff

I bought my copy 2 months ago and am still giving it a spin from time to time which says it all I guess... On the value/money-tip : it's priced as a single cd but actually you get three of them. The Emerson/Angel and Vath/MrC mixes are more than OK -even containing some true classics- but suffer from the same problems as other mixcd's, ie : after some time they become quite boring as you hear them over and over in the same order of tracks and mixes in between. The Paterson/MmM cd however is totally different, it comes as a total soundlandscape instead of a collection of mixed choons. However much of the Paterson/MmM-mixes are made up of their of their own stuff.

Definetely : if you're looking for a mixcd, get this one. It's a real deal considering the wide variety of music you get for the price of one cd... //)ominique Poncin dponcin@glo.be dominique.poncin@vub.ac.be PGP public key available "We're likely to see people forming interest groups, common interest groups to challenge their institutions, to challenge their own society and to challenge their government" Carl Builder
