Yeah, I have been debating whether to go Ryuichi Sakamoto also. There are so many upcoming shows in (Los Angeles) the next few weeks that I'll probably have to pass on that one. March 16 (Thu) Ryuichi Sakamoto. Venue: The Palace. 8pm. Usual Suspects w/DJ Loxy & Mc Rage. Venue:The Troubadour March 21 (Tue) Dave Clark, Woody McBride. Venue: Vynyl. March 22 (Wed) Grooverider (Prototype). Venue: The Viper Room. April 2 (Sun) Dj Teebee [Subtitles]. Venue: Science April 4 (Tue) LTJ Bukem (Good Looking), Blame, Rantoul, MC Conrad/DRS. Venue: El Rey Theatre April 12 (Wed) Konkrete Jungle -- Panacea (Position Chrome), DJ Calibre (Creative Source). Venue: Dreams and Spaceland. April 15 (Sat) Ed Rush (Virus / Metalheadz), J Majik (Infrared), Adam F (F-Jams), MC MC (Metalheadz) @ Audiotistic --- Yonnie Lui <lui@pop.interchange.ubc.ca> wrote:

Thanks for the suggestion. My post was to provide awareness for other events that I think some So Cal Idmers MIGHT be interested in. I could add some fluff under each artist's name, but I'm pretty sure most people are familiar with the artists listed. It would seem that your posts lacks some substance "list-wise". It seems better suited under as a "personal" email rather than "list". But I guess you don't get your url out to as many people that way. Speaking of the Panacea, I'm sure his set will suck. I am curious about DJ Calibre, apparently he has something coming out on Creative Source. A friend of mine said that he cut some dubplates of some of his material, and it was very good. Any comments? Calibre is American, right? Most US dnb is lacking the production quality of some of the UK artists. Hopefully, we will alot more stateside dnb producers releasing quality releases. Here are two US releases that I think are really good. yeah, we had panacea down here 2 times, he is wild, the first time he was down he was still fat, and he destroyed lots fo things and played lots of noise, last time he came down(several months ago) he was skinny, muscular and wearing a bulletproof vest. This time he played a ripping dark and hard jungle set and had the club going wild, the best part about him is that he sings along with his songs(if you know all the weird vocal samples he uses) he insists upon yelling with them and making lots of weird faces, its quite entertaining.....i could go on for 10 more minutes about it but ill keep things brief... btw i know your a wise jungle head, this years WMC is gonna be off the wall, you thinking about coming down? -peace -merck(im not really brock) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brock Suter" <brock@alchemyfx.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Cc: <anything@synthesizer.org> Sent: Friday, March 10, 2000 3:14 PM Subject: Re: (idm) panacea tour?

hahaha. I would like to personally thank Bill and Eric for all the shit they do for the socal idm/jungle/techno scene, be it their radio show or the idm upcoming events page. http://home.earthlink.net/~efrans/scidm/

On Panacea, I've heard his dj sets are amazingly funny to watch. Anyone who's seen modulations knows about djing 'panacea style' with the headphones turned into crazy goggles. I'm looking forward to catching his antics at WMC this year.

Actually, he's from Ireland and recently caught Fabio's attention with some wicked 'intelligent' tunes. I think a few of them are up at 'place 2 be' (or will be soon): http://www.neurofunk.com/place_to_be/index.htm

Big up my main man PiEater. I just got 14 new tunes from him and they're all amazing. Jazzy shit, Techy shit, dubby shit, all kind of crazy shit. I just wish he'd start doing other tempos again though...he's been knocking out 5 jungle tunes a week for the last few months and ALL of them are extremely interesting and very well produced. The man's got 20 some odd channels of independent compression on his desk and he knows how to use them. Last I heard, he'd signed a few more singles to various US labels and John Peel played one of his tunes on his show a few weeks ago! Big up his hairy chest! word to the mothership, brock --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
