Hello, y'all - Anyone know where to find the "Future Sound of Jazz" comps? I've got vols 1 and 2. Heard a rumour that the series hit #4 recently, but I've not seen copies. 3

future sound of jazz is an excellent series (with a bit of a misleading title, though there are some jazzy influences, a lot of the tracks are definitly NOT jazz, present, past, or future), consisting of some of the bigger names in electronic mjozic. it was initially released on the german label, compost. they were surounded in a bit of confusion (at least here in america), due to an instinct screw up. the compost releases are: Future Sound of Jazz Vol. 1 feat. gentle people (afx mix), mu-Ziq, wagonchrist, etc. Future Sound of Jazz Vol. 2 feat. erm??? it's the only one i don't have... Future Sound of Jazz Vol. 3 feat. metamatics, gescom, funkstorung, mike p., jimpster, etc. this is, imho, the best of the four. Future Sound of Jazz Vol. 4 feat. ian o' brian, and some other people (just got this and haven't given it a full listen yet). now, instinct signed them for domestic release, and put out: Future Sound of Jazz Vol. 1 (same as above), and Vol. 2, which was actually the Vol. 3 listed above. i guess they missed out on (the real) vol. 2, so they just figured they'd compensate. as for where to get them: i know modernmusic has/had Vol. 4 in. vols 1 and 2 (instinct versions) are everywhere get them at [insert local chain here] i've only seen the compost vol. 2 once (but, then again, i haven't really been looking.) check some online stores. also, i have a compost discog around here somewhere. if anyone wants i'll send it out. btw, can anyone point me to where i can find some of the early(ish) cujo singles on NINEbar? (in private, of course) mult

I think there is also a slightly different track list for the two versions of volume 1...check it out and you'll see that they have the same number of tracks, but around track seven they switch one or two tracks for the Instinct release. --Bill
