Who gives a rat's as what your playing? :) Sorry for the upset NP: Some esoteric noise track.....(I'm cool!!!) A. And... "Vassar College" ...the cyber equivilant of a windshield sticker? sweatshirt? novelty boxer shorts? :) The reasons are the same silly. Mike On Wed, 5 Nov 1997, Ami Mukerjee wrote:

Ami, Your shit's starting to get a bit trying. Doing a pretty good job of trolling for flames on IDM, aren't you? The whole 'np:' is, in itself, a product of this list. It give's people an added view into the mind of the individual who's writing the post. As you seem to be an intelligent person yourself, I would assume you understand the effect of music on one's mood, behavior, etc. 'np:' also gives people here something to talk about. Ie:

etc., etc., etc. You catch my drift? Stop being such a ball buster and enjoy the list... If you want to be a bitch, go on IRC to #square-pusher and have some fun with the aussies. Fresh and I are on there nightly. word to the mothership, brock. np: Husikesque - 'Green Blue Fire'

Anyway, I wanted to solicit suggestions for some good fem vox meets IDM type stuff (or trip-hop and other electronic realms, although any fem vox suggestions are welcome, no matter what the style.) I am pretty well versed in the more recent and well known artists. Some great stuff I have found include Lamb, Portishead, Morcheeba, Bjork "Telegram", Locust "Morning Light", Sneaker Pimps and Massive Attack. The few random tracks I might add as well are Orbital's "Halcyon" (which I still believe is the most beautiful electronic track ever) and track 10 from the new Chem Bros. Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated. -jtf ps - thanks to the IDM list for helping me discover Locust and Lamb. np: beaumont hannant - basic data manipulation, t&t2

I've got the purple 12" single to Deus, by Skylab, and it is just utter bliss to listen to every time. The a-side is about 10-15 minutes of a lot of different moods, each of which builds upon the last to carry the music forward. But awash in the sounds is this heavenly voice caressing you along the way. -- jr

Good timing - I just started listening to the new Bugs album, "Infinite Syndrome", and it seems to be just what you're looking for. Some sweet, laidback trip-hop and smooth d'n'b with female vocals on about 2/3 of the tracks. Three different vocalists according to the liner notes, and the two I've heard so far are not bad at all. If it turns into a stinker later on, I'll let y'all know, but for now, I give it a thumbs up. It's on Ubiquity outta San Francisco.

Yup, pretty damn close. The first two minutes or so of that track still gives me chills. And now that I think of it, that track was probably the one that turned me on to IDM in the first place. Greg
