Another list of things I've purchased or recorded recently.
1. David Kristian "Synaesthesia" - 1994
What can I say. I heard how good it is from many trustworthy people on the
list but I could not even imagine how good it really is. I thought only Ae
made such masterpieces in idm key at that time. It is brilliant and is an
absolute must have for idm-ambient lovers. Very deep, complex and involving.
If when I listen to Ae I see some alien influence behind it, in this case
it's only analogue machines that send their encoded message in your head.
10/10
2. David Kristian "Woodworking" - 1999
Remix project by vary different artsist which makes it rather non solid work
for those not fimiliar with noise masters from Alien8 Recordings. In my
opinion Solvent, Lowfish, Kid606 and Kristian itself are most comprehensible
pieces on the album. Other tracks are up to the taste of the listener as
part of them are experimental noise and another part is deep analogue
ambient stuff. Very original remix work.
7/10
3. David Kristian "Beneath the Valley of the Modulars" - 1999
Latest to date masterpiece from the master of beat oriented analogue idm
sound including his works from 1994 to 1998. Album is claimed to have no
non-analogue sound sources and stands as a perfect example of how good
musician can progress during four years if he knows what he's doing.
Brilliant standalone tracks compile a great must-have for many idm land
worshippers.
9.5/10
4. Coalescense - 1999
Thanx to people from Alien8 I got this one free of charge just for ordering
3 Kristian albums. I cannot admit that I'm a big fan of noise but this album
has a great examples of how a label could stand to a stable position of
experimental music house. Ambient, harsh noise and just extreme
experimentations with sound compile this album in a very interesting sound
voyage. Aube, Artifician Memory Trance, Crawl Unit and, of course David
Kristian are my favorite. However be prepared to turn voulme down on
Massonna,Knurl or Merzbow tracks... 8)
4/10
5. Herbalizer "Very Mercenary" - 1999
This latest album from one of Ninja Tune frequenter is my first album of
him. Great mix of rap, live sound and computer sampling within the frames of
original Ninja sound. I love nearly half of what is made on Ninja Tune. This
one falls in the half I like.
8/10
