I know this topic has been gone over a gaZillion times.. I'm a dj looking to get into producing [e.g. I have ideas but no way in which to express them musically, and no real technical knowledge of any aspect of production, aside from some abstract ideas and concepts.] I got started dj-ing by buying tables and a mixer and experimenting. Can I try my hand at production in the same way? My question is -- is there any one machine and/or book or other piece of literature that I should purchase to gain some of this background knowledge and "hands on" experience? I know the MC-303 has been slazzed a hundred times on a bunch of lists but is there any type of older synth or the like which I should consider purchasing .. and more importantly -- Why? Sorry for 'spamming' the list with semi-non-idm-content. Replies greatly appreciated, -peter
