That's pretty much the way I imagined it would sound, actually :)
There's something to be said for pure systems music as a starting
point, but what's more interesting to me is when the systems music is
used a just a starting point. Whether this means refinement through
processing, setting up a more specific system so the output is
aesthetically please, whatever, just don't give me the raw shit unless
it's magically excellent.
I guess Oval is sort of a decent example of this - their stuff is
based on some seemingly simple systems (skipping CDs), but it's been
refined way past just clicks & skips.
