if you can't stand the elitism, get off the list. :) that's kind of what i like about us IDM-heads. We all are extremely opinionated, and given the absence of actual person to person contact, we can all be giant dickheads and not have to worry about bodily harm....sort of. _________________________________________________ Brian Rachielles- UC Santa Barbara (.b) Production Director KCSB fm 91.9 1997-98 Audio Program thurs 2-4am ambient-idm-noise web- http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/4980

I must apologize if this was taken the wrong way. I wrote this with tongue firmly in cheek and now I seem to have put my foot firmly into my mouth. I was actually attempting to poke a bit of fun at the generally hard feelings that have been flying around the list for the past week or so. my sincerest apologies, brian _________________________________________________ Brian Rachielles- UC Santa Barbara (.b) Production Director KCSB fm 91.9 1997-98 Audio Program thurs 2-4am ambient-idm-noise web- http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/4980 brian

i was wondering what "noisy idm" works you all would recommend. by noisy i mean something along the lines of maybe panasonic's kulma album or autechre's chiastic slide. i'm fairly new to this genre, so forgive my ignorance. btw, i have to register my dislike with the term idm. it doesn't roll of the tongue easily, and "intelligent dance music" sounds kind of snobbish (is other music not intelligent?). but whatever, i don't really believe in labeling music anyway, and who gives a fuck anyway. thanks for any help. -ali _____________________________________________________________________ Sent by RocketMail. There's lots of dumb, boring, commercial dance music that is made electronically. We don't like talking about stuff like that, it seems. There's nothing that distinguishes it from other copies of itself. It's all the same, over and over again, just in a different order. over and over again, --brett ObIDM: anyone have "advanced alchemy of music"? I'm not sure quite how I feel about this one. It was released in germany in 1992 or 3 I beleive, but I forget the artist. I'll know more later and I'll listen to it somemore. It it definitely worthwhile, though. This is exactly the kind of person (ego maniac) who I can't stand being alowed on this forum, but understand that we need all types of people to make the world go round. Ali if you want some REAL information about the music (not a bunch of bickering winers about how "cool and underground we are") then I'll help you on your journey into electronica. Aphex Twin: Ventolin (Warp/Sire) Kinesthesia Vol's 1 & 2 (Rephlex) Not necessarily either Panasonic or Autechre, but pretty noisy regardless. Twisted Science (John Tye): all of his releases (Lo Recordings and Leaf) Panasonic's Vakio album (mute) is just as good as kulma. Fucks with your head big time. Better packaging too. well, that's all that's at the top of my head. t.S.o.G. np: Byzar: gaiatronyk
