i thought so too...but i bought a perfectly functional one at a garage sale for 8 bucks...and a new belt for 9 bucks(i know, rip off, but its the only place i could find that had 'em). that's less than the price of a cd!!!! While I thank everyone for the suggestion to "buy a turntable", don't you think if I could afford one, I'd already have it? In any case, I think there are plenty of good reasons to press a gescom CD. It would make the material available to a wider audience, and not just those with turntables. I'll be getting one in the future I'm sure (as soon as I've saved up for it), but until then, I have to put up with whatever people decide to release on cd. --brett

you can afford one if you can afford to blow all your cash on cd's.. In a thrift shop near my house I've found a high-quality pioneer turntable that looks just like a Technics SL-1200 except it's just a regular turntable, so it doesn't have a pitch control.. It's like $30, dirt cheap, and it takes standard cartridges, and also has counter balance.. (as I said, exactly like sl1200 without pitch control).. if you just look around flea markets, thrift shops, you'll find one.. even then, you can get a cheap ass turntable at Best Buy (the one I mentioned in the thrift shop probably a shitload better tho :) __ __\ \ / /_\ \ \_____/ www.freq-div.home.ml.org

I don't have a lot of sympathy for the "buy a turntable" sneer of the archaic-technology fetishists, but really, "I can't afford one" collapses as an excuse once you've admitted that you can afford to buy CDs. Get up before noon some Saturday and hit a few garage sales and you'll quickly be drowning in $10 and $15 turntables of perfectly servicable quality. -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo@swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo) ::: Internet Music Wantlists: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo/Wantlists
