Closed down. unfortunate really. Romantically: the first and last time I went in there was a few weeks ago, when my friend and i entered they were playing Amorphous Androgynous "Fat Cat" on the speakers....went back there a week, maybe 2 weeks ago, the shop is no more. -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

I was in England three weeks ago, and found a few cool spots (Thanks Ben Coffer). All are on Berwick St, which is a ten minute walk from Piccadilly Circus. Just walk up Rupert St, and you'll walk onto Berwick: Ambient Soho - small, and very crowded when I was there. I didn't see a whole lot, but the prices were reasonable. Sister Ray - My favorite place. I heard "Bentley Rhythm Ace" playing, and bought it on the spot. Plenty of releases on Fax, Emissions, Warp, & other IDM friendly titles. Like it....funny, it only ever has about 3 people in it when I go along...i've never seen it crowded! :) Did you get to see Ed from DMX?

I like Sister Ray too, but you didn't go in Selectadisc? They are excellent as well, along with Reckless Records....but that's only if you're going for vinyl/cd overdose and immediate bank account reduction :) -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

Paul Also try to visit both the Rough Trade shops at Neals Yard in Covent Garden, and Talbot Road, near Portobello Market. The Talbot Road store has some of the best collections of IDM and other stuff - eg ambi-industrial etc. Also, (ahem) the Piccadilly Tower's really good for dance these days (meaning fairly cheap). Ambient Soho has limited stock and charges 2-3 more than Sister Ray, which is just opposite. Lastly try Selectadisc, also in Berwick Street - even cheaper than Sister Ray, with loads of sections - even an illbient. Best Regards Mathew f Riley/Immerse ----------

I'd say Rough Trade at Talbot Rd., just off Portobello. Not too expensive, very friendly stuff, great selection and their catalogue, usu updated, is at http://www.roughtrade.com/ and I remember a few other stores at Portobello Road, smaller and more genre-focused tho (mostly dubbish stuff), plus some used stuff at the same area (Notting Hill Gate tube/subway) ..and I don't work for them :-) mk np. Plug - Snapping Fuss (Avantgardism comp)

I find Rough Trade quite expensive - always, always go to Berwick St (to *all* of the shops) then take your pick. Music and Video exchange is also a fucking rip off and they give piss all for your second hand stuff - the staff are also consistent in their wankerishness, ta ta r np: Lionrock - new promo album - ace You like it scratchy don't you Frank? Yeh, he he
