I just called J&R Music World, and boy am I upset. I call, and am put on hold for a bit, no big deal. This guy picks up the line, and I start asking for prices about stuff. After everything I am checking on's price is quoted, he asks "Would you liek to place an order." Over and over. I repeadly say I am only checking prices, and once that gets into his head, he gets really cold with me. Like if I don't place an order with his pushy butt, I am nothing. Even if they are cheaper, I'm not going to give my buisness to a place like that. Noone should. On the good side of mail order, I called a wonderful place today. It's called KAB, the owner(?) is named Kevin. I called to check on avaliability of stuff, and prices, and we had a great conversation about so-called "high-end" equipment and turntables. He spoke of the all around kick-butt quality of the SL-1200, and how stupid audiophiles are for disliking direct drive. I talked to this mail order guy for 20 minutes, and he didn't rush me, or demand that I take an oder right now. He just wanted to explain to me how things worked. I highly reccomend giving them (him) a call. And they have all sorts of great turntable things. Boycott J&R. :) Shane

J&R or kab? Kab was 499.99. He also has a sl1200 modified for playing 78's, too. Shane

Here's another gripe. I ordered from them about 2 weeks ago. I paid $15 for 2 day shipping and the idiots didn't put my apartment number on the shipping label (which I specifically told them). And FedEx won't deliver without the complete shipping information. So my package was missing for a few days. And J&R didn't put my phone number on the label either, so FedEx had no way of telling me that they can't deliver my package. So what should have been 2 days turned into a week. And their prices are the lowest, but not by much. They're usually $1 lower than any other store. So from now on, I'd rather pay one dollar more and skip the mixups. Kevin
