couple questions... Has anyone heard Higher Intelligence Agency's latest album? I think it's called Polar Biospheres or something like that. How is it? Is it similar to freefloater? I really like that album versus Colourform. Their recent effort with Deep Space Network on Source is really excellent as well. I just recently picked up the Skam and Dot compilations. These are great...very solid! Mucho recommended for anyone into the Autechre/Rephlex sound. Can anyone recommend any Skam & Dot releases with essential tracks not on these comps? Also are there any labels punting similar sounds that are as consistent? thanks, brian :::::::: >----:{}

"Polar Sequences" as it's better known :) was recorded with Biosphere... and i'm pretty sure it came out before the Deep Space Network one.... It's a lot like other Biosphere stuff, but with HIA's beats :) nice and cold and ambient.... HIA's latest album is the S.H.A.D.O one with Pete Namlook which is also pretty good, but the last track is a little too "hands in the air" pumping for me :) -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

the album is "polar sequences" and is a collaboration with biosphere...think icy cold ambient, beatless melodies, the sloooooow flow of frozen sequences and u get the picture...recommended for hot summer nights... tom w np: cannibalism III

The DSN vs. HIA has much more of the "Freefloater" sound to it than HIA's collaboration with Biosphere. Lots of beats and bleeps, and probably a little slanted on the HIA side than the DSN side (although there are definitely hints of both). MC

I'm not familiar with DSN, but the disc does take a step away from HIA's norm. It seems like something that will sell better. I can't say "Pop"ish, but there's less complexity, more kickin' bass drums, less rolling bass chords. Don't get me wrong, the disc is killer. One of my favorite traditional buys of the year (I can't judge this kind of music against things like DJ Food - Refried Food or Hypnotics Dub n Bass or anything from Amon Tobin). np: Receptionist at Large (who's that sitting in for her) <fontfamily><param>Fixedsys</param><smaller> _ / \ /\ /__/ \ / \ \ / \AVIS \\\\ emailing from work. <underline><color><param>0000,0000,ffff</param>ravis1@mindspring.com </color></underline> <underline><color><param>0000,0000,fefe</param>http://www.mindspring.com/~ravis1/</color></underline></smaller></fontfamily>
