I actually really like this one. Not as much as I Care... and RDJ Album....its beats, while still great, are more mechanical than organic and thus very much more dancable...but there is that touch of cool sounds that he throws in to show you his potential...over all with RDJ Album being a 10 (cos I love that album) I'd give it an 8.5.

Gah! If the RDJ album is a 10, Analogue Bubblebath is around 200 :) One of the few decent tracks on RDJ is "Yellow Calx" which sounds suspiciously like a SAW II leftover with breaks laid on top. -- Chris

Hmmm, well obviously a differentiation in taste, here. I like songs that go through phases with constantly changing beats ... RDJ has much more of this than Analogue BB...the melodies are alot more developed and he has just gone off on the retriggering... Analaogue is alot closer to typical dance, and therefore ... worse. It's more like dance without the intelligent, wouldn't you say?

No way! the RDJ album is like 200 times more creative. AB1 is much MUCH more simpler. AB1 is just simple ambient/techno. Early richard james was good but his laters stuff is much better. AB1 is good but nothing compared to his later works.

heh.. obviously there are lots of diverse opinions on this.. some ppl completely hate the new RDJ album, which is their reasoning for AB1 being 12389437 times better, and then there are those who think AB1 is too oldish sounding, and there are those who love the both of them to death, but still say that AB1 is 32498218 times better :) I'm one of the latter ppl.. I love the RDJ album, but I must say, AB1 is great, and I won't say anything about the EP as a whole, but Analogue Bubblebath the track is a timeless classic and there's no way that anything on the RDJ album can match that track.. like Gonzi said, it's a 'perfect' track. You can't really compare RDJ LP to AB1, because you are easily overwhelmed with the 10 tracks on RDJ. All you need is 1 out of 4 of the tracks on AB1 to be brilliant and it beats RDJ LP hands down, if you want to do it that way, but you really can't.. at least imho. the closest any of the tracks on RDJ LP come to being as brilliant as Analogue Bubblebath is 4, and it still is thousands of miles away from being as good. __ __\ \ / /_\ \ \_____/ , m7=

This is what I've been trying to say...as I see it, Aphex has been developing from when he first started from a more generic dance style (although definitely not generic in itself) to a much more creative song style...these are more thoroughly composed pieces which develop their themes instead of simply looping them...Some examples of his developed tracks are track 4 from RDJ, and track 4 from I Care...

Surfing on Sinewaves is my favorite, also. RDJ is ok but it's too short (not even 45 min with the girl/boy ep attached) also those melodies that sound that sound like the sound track to old childrens cartoons tend to get rather annoying after a while. mult. http://members.aol.com/MultSanta/

..and I find them quite amusing! dunno if anyone remembers richard's interview with philip glass in future music, he said he's working on a "weird jungle thing on warp, which is not conventional aphex jungle" (that was hangable autobulb) and "then there's an album of reworked children's tv theme tunes". -- .Mikko
