OK. I know this is going to sound redundant, but when did the Caustic Window LP come out? Or has it? And was it limited to 500 copies like HAII? _________ (___,-, \ "Why don't you admit it, / ,\ \ AFX you don't have the balls /,_) \ \ Aphex Twin to be a queer...." can't imagine the look on the gut face in my record shop when they see me buying this...or the look of those who get asked for it... 'i can't remember what it's called...it's got a track on it called...ermm.. called....ermmm....ermm...it's by richard james, yunno, that aphex twin guy'.... or alternatively 'i am looking for something called something like 'cunt' i wish grant would tell us the story as to why they are called such names... great childish words from a man who apparently is going through that 'the desire to be a child is as strong as the desire to be a machine' stuff which psychologists always talk about... paul

Yes, straight from someone I talked to at Rephlex... "Rich hasn't decided what tracks to put on it so it's not gonna come out till October" -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

That's not it entirely.... Rich also believes his music should have the least priority for his label, and would rather push all these new releases instead of his own... Bochum Welt, Cylob, Sam and Valley, and a few others..... Aaron

Can someone post the REAL track listing of the original Caustic Window EPs? Gonzi? (BTW if you're wondering how far the names have gone - bootlegs have been circulating around the local record store with your track names). Which tracks are missing? np: Coil "Spring Equinox". (Toronto : HMV 333 has 5 copies left for 12.99, better than Peddler's 16.99 a few weeks ago). -- Via DLG Pro v1.0 edwin_wong@kiwi.com // nothingrec@geocities.com Aphexweb // http://aphex.home.ml.org UnOfficial Nothing Records // http://destruction.home.ml.org

ok there are people who can tell you release dates, titles, color of label etc...about this one, i'm not one of them. this used to be sacred spotter territory, until this release anyway. to summarise, its a compilation of 3 (or 4) early rdj 12" singles released as caustic window, variously called "joyrex" or j w/ a number. they were originally released circa '93 or thereabouts, and have a noticeable acid / early techno sound. they were discussed a lot on this list as they are some of aphex's earliest releases and more importantly (were) rare as hell. this cd (3x12" versh also available) of reissues was rumored for about 2 yrs. i was unsubbed for a few months when it came out, but i haven't noticed much discussion (i was still on idm-reviews but i didn't see any reviews of itcome thru). some of it sounds basic and dated now. there are a few great tracks on there. one or two are what we used to call "nosebleed techno" - more in common w/ headbangers like motorhead than derrick may. maybe i'm wrong. there may have been a mountain of talk on the list when it was released (no reviews tho'), but it certainly gets discussed less today now that most people can hear it, than before the release when most people hadn't heard it. this seems to point to suspicion i have sometimes that rarity can count for more than the music. or maybe its that idm in particular dates more quickly than other forms of music, being v. much a product the latest technology available. sometimes its not clear which releases that may blow you away today w/ exciting new sounds, actually have the substance to keep you wanting to play it again next year. or even in 5 yrs time. -martin -btw- anyone else noticed the similarity between diy's "orange is orange" and boc's "aquarius"
