besides "we" which was released by asphodel,
all are labels.
the _as is_ cd by we has continued to grow on me with
ambience fused with melodic sense punctuated by either
continually evolving hip/trip/hop beats or well programmed
dnb breakbeats. for me, it questions each genre you might
touch on within this forum. i don't want to overhype it but
it stands up to my ears...
_as is_ has just been permafixed to one of my changer slots.
to fill out a five or six disc changer keep reading...
dot
http://www.nons.se/dot/
has the excellent cd comp: _the knights who say dot_
as well as four 12" singles by:
"hab" "tupilaq" "quant" "friend" (more singles and full
lengths out soon)
variety of influences from ae tronics to squarepushereque dnb to airy
sndtrk...
holds up well after repeated listens (and i have a low attn span)
recommendation: buy it asap
skint
http://www.loaded-records.com/skint/index.html
has two cd comps: _brassic beats_ volumes one and two
the skint style is more above-board varying between:
a minimal style, perhaps b-boy meets ae (check out "req")
and hard breakbeat uptempo, better than chembros imho
(check out "fatboy slim" and "bentley rhythm ace")
recommendation: start with the second comp
play track 12 to see what "bassbin twins" did to a crate of skint
schematic

secretive small release label
the silver stuff with no textual info
compare their ambitions to skam
they hope to release gescom material soon
recommendation: buy a turntable
emissions audio output
(yes, the home of the swordsmen)
http://www1.haywire.co.uk/haywire/emissions/index.html
andrew weatherall's set of three labels in one:
lo fi, static, and echoic
try to provide limited help classifying the sounds
they end up providing
three series for 'spotters to collect
and really cool symbols for label graphics ; )
pay more attention to what's coming up than to past releases
andy is in the process of creating a signature sound, which,
imho is a new subgenre of idm
sabres of paradise, two lone swordsmen...
always on the cutting edge -- bah dump bump!
cd comps: _fresh emissions_ dbl cd and older _singular emissions_
recommendation: almost overdue for a new compilation so be patient.
spymania
http://www1.linkonline.net/fresh/spydisc.htm
home of tom squarepushing jenkinson and his
double agents the spymania allstars.
great label if you like his stuff, as you'll love the
more challenging stuff and continued 'progression'
recommendation: check out blackops on the homepage
if only to see a bit o' t&a ; )
leaf
_homepage_________________?
has a compilation cd coming out called _invisible soundtracks_
which is basically two previous vinyl slabs pressed to cd.
we've all got to lean on labels at some point
experimental with other influences like dnb and electro
leaf's a good label to lean on.
recommendation: make like a tree... (groan)
lo

have three cd compilations:
1:_extreme possibilities_
2:_collaborations_
3:_united mutations_
with work by luke vibert, springheel jack, tortoise, wormhole, etc.
they also released the mike flowers pops "vs" ep
with mixes by funki porcini, vibert, aphex twin, etc
the "lo" label just appeared alongside "leaf" on the last
"twisted science" record, though i don't know more about that...
i know you all have other goodies to contribute
such as small labels i've never heard of and others i'll never find for
sale
but i'll throw a tantrum if you keep them secret...
so share.
and please help fill in holes in the above, esp. homepages
commence breath holding, don't let me down!
