Hey y'all. I recently decided to experiment a bit and grab a few things that looked interesting without actually listening to them. Worked out pretty well in most cases (a couple of Panacea 12"s on Chrome, Mung and Nu Art Sampler 12"s on Blue Planet, Torque comp on No U Turn, etc.), but I ended up with one lemon - Fridge "Ceefax" CD (Output). It's not awful, mind you - pretty half-decent as far as that post-rock thang goes, and Tortoise fans will probably really love it to bits. Personally, I've decided that I prefer the Tortoise remix projects to their regular releases, so this Fridge thing just leaves me cold (geddit?? Fridge. Cold. Ha!). Anyways, it's a pricey UK import and I've only played it once, so I'd like to get US$14 plus shipping for it. I will, however, consider offers, and trades may also be entertained. Use private email, of course. Couple of comments on the latest digest:

I don't think anyone's mentioned Future Sound (or is it Soundz?) of India, which is one of Talvin Singh's projects I believe.

I can't really understand Nettwerk's reasoning in putting out this comp. Well, I *can* - it's for the money - but based on their track record in the past, they've never been a label that jumps on trends in such a blatant manner. Especially considering that they've got some fairly innovative electronic music coming their way from the subCONSCIOUS camp. Nope, it just don't make sense.

They just did that with Paradigm Shift from the subCON gang. And besides, they've have a tough time doing better than the recent Northern Circuits comp from Interchill Records in Montreal. It is *solid*! Not a duff track in the bunch, and all Canuck artists.

A couple of weeks ago, I received a promo 12" with two Mantronik mixes, and a promo CD with an edit of one of those mixes and the album version (I think). No sign of the commercial release that I've noticed, although advance info I saw late last year said that there was going to be a 23 Skidoo(!) remix, so I can't wait! Greg np: ChemBros "Dig Your Own Hole" (Virgin) ... I guess that blows any shred of street cred I might've had, eh? :-)
