Orbital have been wanting to make soundtracks for years and have repeatedly said so in interviews. If they were offered the Saint, why shouldn't they take it? Just because it's a Hollywood film? Since they are so enamored with John Barry's music, I'm sure the prospect of making a spy theme was what appealed to them rather than the enormous wads of cash that they're undoubtedly earning. Selling out usually implies doing something solely for monetary reward instead of for personal gratification. By this logic, Orbital are far from selling out-- they are finally getting to do what they've wanted to do for some time.

The Spirit is a cool old Will Eisner character. Maybe Orbital knew this and wanted to take the opportunity. Maybe Orbital can make a bad movie cool by having good music in it. It's been done before. If they stand out as "the only good thing about the Saint" then they'll get more gigs, maybe for something actually with potential to be a good movie overall. -CF
