Does anyone know if Tortoise's 12" single/remix series is done? Will there be more? I'm making a tape of them for a friend and will hold off sending it if there are going to be more... BTW - is there a Tortoise or Thrill Jockey webpage? AND, BTW, since I have your ear (eye?) is anyone familiar with another Thrill Jockey artist, Rome? Thanks, The Conquistador -- "[With 2000 coming,] the only comparable year was 1984, which only eight little boys in Hulme thought was going to be like the George Orwell book. The rest of us knew it was going to be exactly like that shite Eurythmics song" -- Dave Quantick

Been hearing lots about them and just recently picked up their album and 12" - haven't listened yet but supposed to be pretty dubby and not very idm-y. cya brian

UNKLE, Oval, Spring Heel Jack, Luke Vibert, thats it. There's a japanese CD with most of the tracks on it (I think it misses a b-side) that I'm currently looking for, anyone...?

Saw Rome playing in Rough Trade (Covent Garden) the other weekend, thought they were ok, but not really in the same league as Tortoise. They have an eponymous album on Thrill Jockey from last year, which I dig out once in a while, but 'Millions now living...' it isn't. Still worth checking out if you're into this post-rock thang. Plus one of the tracks is recorded by John McEntire & mixed by Designer for extra spotter points... Phil PS I'm being really unfair by judging them against possibly my favourite album from last year. It's actually quite good. [On:Rome:Rome:ThrillJockey] Gakak Gak Gak Gak Gakak Gak Gak Gak Gaaak Gaaak Gaaak Gaaak Gakak Gak Gak Gak

Try Poo-Bah Records in Pasadena, California USA (http://commline.com/poobah/). Amazingly enough, last time I was there they had the Tortoise Japanese CD compilation as well as the Aphex Twin 51/13 Singles compilation. - Greg

I just returned from the local Tower Records (Atlanta) where I picked up this CD. It's called Tortoise:Remixed. It was quite expensive ($29.99 for 59+ minutes), but since I've been looking for this for quite some time, I couldn't pass it by. Steve Dolphyn sdolphyn@ibm.net
