reverb. issue nine. renewal. after months of stagnation, the concept known as reverb is back, this time in the form of a full-fledged webzine. whereas before our coverage spread from techno to hip-hop, ambient, acid jazz and other genres, we're much more focused on the proliferation of the detroit "meme" (forward thinking) as well as historical perspective (reverse edits). plunging deep into more multimedia possibilities, issue nine contains live footage of DBX and Rob Hood performing live, Claude Young and Carl Craig's dj prowess The Cement Space (detroit's first "techno gallery") and nine reviews (which will change in weekly increments of three). our aim is to present techno in ways you might not be used to experiencing it, whether it be a quicktime clip of a live event or an audio file of that elusive white label. recalibrate to http://hyperreal.com/zines/reverb/ and enjoy. sincerely, dan sicko | matt macqueen P.S. Mac users can check the back catalog section (found in "revolve") for old reviews ranging all the way from The Black Dog to Eno to Orbital to The Brand New Heavies to Born Under a Rhyming Planet ... -- @=======================================@ | Dan Sicko | | urbfutur@mindspring.com | | reverb@hyperreal.com | | | | hyperreal.com/zines/reverb/ | | "reverse edits and forward thinking" | @=======================================@

I just wanted to say that I'm really glad Reverb is back in effect... And it's in full effect, at that. I just scoped the site, and it's very, very well done. Good content, good design/layout/interface, and the best part is, it does it all without reverting to gobs and gobs of Java/Shockwave/etc (not that those pieces of technology are bad, just that they should be used with constraint). Big props out to Dan Sicko and Matt MacQueen for putting this online, and here's hoping for the continued existence of this. By coincedance, Reverb (the hypercard stand-alone version) was one of the first pieces of multimedia I'd ever seen when I was just starting to hear/hear about Detroit Techno. I remember going to Record Time after I say it, and telling the girl behind the counter that "I say the ad in Reverb" (like the old issues used to say), and she met me with a blank look. I probably would have had better luck mentioning that to someone in the dance room... Anyway, regards on work nicely done.
