Hi all, I'm looking for Apotheosis's "O Fortuna" on CD. I heard it was once released on the "Rave 'Til Dawn" compilation until it was withdrawn. Also, I think there is a CD5 version, but I don't know if it's still available. Can anyone help ? Thanks very much, Topher. ======================================= F r a n c e T e c h n o - topher@france-techno.fr - http://www.france-techno.fr - The Official site of F-Communications Records, Coda Magazine & Radio FG. Is it rare? For a while there was a copy floating around Toronto retailing for something like $170 Canadian (maybe $130 US). It is indeed rare. Even the Rave 'Til Dawn compilation was deleted because of copyright problems with the track. There are bootleg CD-R copies floating around of the single, and you may find it cropping up on a compilation near you pretty soon. At least here in Toronto, O Fortuna has become quite a club hit amongst the gothic/industrial types. onnow: v/a "quango sport" (island) Lame Thread Prevention in Effect: Aaron Michelson --------------------------------------------------------------------- aw-teck'r (autechre) "Everything you Know is Wrong" For reviews, interviews, art & trash http://www.on-it.net/~aaron/ aaron@defiant.on-it.net

There's a trick to this one, lucky for trainspotters: The compilation X-static Radikal Tekno volume 4 (check the odd spellings, as I may not have them rite) includes the Apotheosis cut. The label was evidently sued for the sample usage. Rather than drop the cut, they simply changed the title. But the cut actually is "O Fortuna". Carmina Burana samples et al. As far as I know, this the only in-print CD of the cut available. En-joi, 3

My domestic copy of the comp (US: Hot Productions HTCD 9903-2 - Rad-X5 903 _X-Static Volume Four / Radikal Techno_) has it listed as "O Fortuna". What did it originally say? The US cd5 of the single (US: Hot Productions CDS 12299-2) comes in a cardboard case that's mostly a ghastly orange color. As to the person who was looking for it, try used cd stores, and the alt.rave or alt.techno newsgroups. I'm sure people have it who wouldn't mind unloading it, but think that it's virtually worthless and not worth the effort. As a side note, I acquired The London Philharmonic's performance of Carmina Burana. It's on Teldec, with a catalog number of T2 74886. Pretty impressive! The cd booklet has the original lyrics, complete with a translation into English. Andrew -- Andrew Bennett abennett@cruzio.com, abennett@hyperreal.com http://taz.hyperreal.com/~abennett/

It's the other way around! You have the original, wherein the title ("O Fortuna") was left intact. After the copyright issues, later versions of the CD (including those one would most likely find in stores now) changed the title. I don't recall the new title. The important info, though, is that the track itself is still "O Fortuna". Best, 3

If this is what I think it is, it could be the biggest piece of crap ever put on wax by someone from Belgium (I think it's from Belgium). Is this the one with the _carmina burana_ samples over an extremely lame beat ? If you pay $130 US for this, you are crazy. It's crap ! It was a hit in Belgium some years ago and all the kids loved it, except for those with any kind of musical taste. I've seen it in dump bins for ages and it appeared on numerous very bad rave-comps. Yuk ! dv8

You're right. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read someone was looking for it. You just have to read the PA review from 'Humor and Highlights from the net' on Hyperreal (along with AFXs first posting to net for example). This is so funny . Here's an excerpt:
