Just got the new ATR 12" EP on DHR/Grand Royal (can't remember the title, sorry). Five songs, hard as hell, and much cooler than previous Empire stuff I have. I liked the first ATR release I bought ("Deutschland Has Gotta Die"), and this is in a similar vein: freaked-out Casio death-throes, rapid time-changes, some really '80s-sounding acid/trance synth, and a lot of yelling. Very Cool...Is there an album coming as well or is this it? Release info, anyone? On Now: SL2, KWS, Johnny L, Acen (Rave actually sounds good after a few years distance, check it out!)

Yeah! I was listening to Brainstorm by Brainstorm the other day 'cos I was feeling a bit hyper, and it was mad. It's got such a good bassline at the end. -Ed

What???? Some friends and I saw a couple of thier videos the other night on AMP, and well.... they suck! How could anybody think this so-called band is good, let alone 'IDM'. They are just a punk band with a couple synths.

There already is an ATR album out. It was originally called '1995', I think, and has now been reissued as 'Delete Yourself'. More of the same - loud, out of tune and filthy. Great stuff. DHR have released a bunch of records with a similar "feel" (that of having your ears redone with a pair of chainsaws) - more info on their homepage: http://193.243.233.15/haywire/dhr/index.html

I must agree that they're hardly IDM, but they sure are great (and what's wrong with punk?) - go see them live if you get the chance. They were here a couple of months ago and screamed the roof of. Next on was Moby, who spoiled the evening by launching into a horrible rendition of Sabbath's 'Paranoid' as second song. Maarten onnow: german sheperds - thc
