As people on this list seem also to be interested in the experimental-style guitar bands a la Tortoise, Stereolab, Labradford et al., I would like to recommend you to check out CIRCLE from Pori, Finland. Basically they play drone/Krautrock-kind of hypno stuff and their gigs can be really trance-inducing experiments (for me, they have been, at least), I suppose this band will be BIG. Check Circle's discog and other stuff from: http://www.uta.fi/~tlolso/circle/circle.htm And they also cover Spaceman 3's 'Revolution', which is always a big plus for me! :) ekku the maintainer of pHinnWeb - everything u ever wanted to know about Finnish techno scene but were too afraid of the reindeer trerra@uta.fi | http://www.uta.fi/~trerra | http://www.sci.fi/~phinnweb * The Best of '96 -> http://www.uta.fi/~trerra/bestof96.html

Erkki's summary doesn't come close to capturing how incredible Circle are. if you have even the least bit of a 'tooth' for Krautrock, Loop/H&STC, US-variations-therein such as Jessamine and Cul de Sac, splintering noise of the Skullflower/Whitehouse/early NWW variety, then you should check out the two Circle albums (_Meronia_, _Zopalki_ -both on Bad Vugum) immediately. they moodswing from heavy repetitive-riffing to chiming feathery ambience. if you can find the 2x12" versions of the albums (or any of their 7"s), they'd probably mix interestingly with some hard minimal techno. adventurous DJs should play around with this idea. until last night, i never realized how well NWW/Whitehouse's _150 Murderous Passions_ mixed with Plaid's Red Snapper remix!! GuerillaG2-G4/ gg np: Le Orme - Live Orme. yikes!

Well, hyping things up have never been my cup of tea, even if I thought they were *worth* it ;)

There's also their third album, _Hissi_ that came out at the end of '96 on Metamorphos label (Fin)... For more info, refer to the discog at <http://www.uta.fi/~tlolso/circle/circle.htm>. ekku the maintainer of pHinnWeb - everything u ever wanted to know about Finnish techno scene but were too afraid of the reindeer trerra@uta.fi | http://www.uta.fi/~trerra | http://www.sci.fi/~phinnweb * The Best of '96 -> http://www.uta.fi/~trerra/bestof96.html
