Saw Tricky last night at Hollywood Athletic Club. Here is a semi quick
review. . .
If anyone ever has a chance to see a good techno/idm/electronic show there
DO NOT HESITATE as it is prolly one of the best setup places around. The
room is the size of a small basketball court with a small balcony that runs
all the way around the room. There is a good sized dance floor and full
bar (always a plus). The stage is large and set up on one side of the room
(which means you can be on the balcony directly over the band if your lucky
(and friends with security dont hurt either). The sound system in this
little room is incredible. Nice and clear sound. As far as the show is
concerned, Tricky was amazing as usual. The crowd left a little something
to be desired. All the a**holes who live in the state of CA must have
showed up there. Some guy almost beat the hell out of my roomate cuz she
(yes he wanted to beat up a woman) asked him to move over so the girl
behind him could see. . I cant believe what the scene has turned into
around here. A bunch of rave/skater kids (i looked like one of the oldest
guy in the room and im only 23) causing problems for the rest of us who
just wanted to see a good show. I was right up against the stage and
otherwise the show was very good. The sound guys were pretty shitty
though. Little too much feedback on the mic's and if you were stuck in the
back of the room then it prolly sounded like just a loud hum (but that is
why you stand in the front).
Anyhow, im still rather angry about the quality of people that attend the
shows around here. That guy made me really angry, as did the lame ass frat
boy who pushed me cuz he didnt like the way I was dressed. I guess it
makes him feel like a big man or something. . . .
ok back to my sulking. . .

". . .And they all died in a horrible fiery death, mangled steel, blood,
ear piercing screams...all to the technoized beat put forth by a TR-909"
