some geezer was aasking about boymerang - eg who the
fuck is he/she/it?
anyway...interview bit from this months 'muzik' -'straight from the
'orses mouf' as our cockney cousins say
"I used to go out raving a lot but started getting really disillusioned
with
the breakbeat side of things in 1992. All my friends were turning into
skeletons (keep of that acid mate -sm), it was getting really horrible,
so I moved to Brighton for a year. When I returned to London at the
start of 1994 , I found the music had really moved on. it answered
a lot of questions about where I wanted to go , it was like seeing the
light (argh - cliche attack!!!!!!!-sm)
I was in a band called Bark Psychosis at the time we had a big bust up just
before the Pheonix festival in 1994. It was basically left to me to do
something
about it , so I thought 'fuck it , I'll do a mix set with a trumpet player
and a
keyboard player" (as you do-sm). So i was there at Pheonix playing jungle.
I spent last year working on my album , which is why people did not hear
much from me in 1996. 90% of the album tracks have been played out
quite a bit already , though. I've been concentrating hard on making a
really
good breakbeat album. It's textural and cinematic , with a lot of different
levels. I've been trying to create a whole peice of work from beginning to
end
which can also be played out. Basically I've boiled down a whole years work
into one hour of music.
I really do owe a lot to Doc Scott , Grooverider and Fabio. Goldie . Ed
Rush and Trace
have also given me a lot of support. 1996 was a truley amazing year for me
, it was
brilliant not to put anything out and just circulate my stuff around the
right people.
The whole thing has worked out really well for me."
Boymerang's debut lp on Regal/EMI and his 12" on Grooverider's Prototype
label
are both out shortly
btw - the name 'jungle' come from a chant in a tune big @ proto drum n bass
club 'rage'
(fabio & grooverider were residents 1989-1991) , was a key element of their
sets

it's on the 'ravesignal 3' 12' (r&s) , this was recently released as part
of
r&s 'classic' 12" re-issue series , imho the 'ravesignal' series were
the best things he did - look at the state of im now!!! , making records
with oasis impersonators
