Dunno the answer to that, but if any number of mainstream periodicals are a barometer, I'd say we are on our way. One catch phrase that commonly crosses my path these days is "Electronic Dance Music". Seems as though the mainstream pop culture has become severely stagnant, and with CD sales taking a hit, it's no doubt we'll see various mutations unfolding in an attempt to stir up the masses.

I'm seeing references to electronic type music all over the place within the past month...I get TIME and a few issues back they had an article entitled "the next big thing" which basically said alt. rock is dead, grunge is tired, and people are on the lookout for something new. They added MTV was going to start playing more 'electronic dance music'. Oh boy... I still can't help think it's going to take awhile because too much of what we listen to has the machine aesthetic, something that is so foreign to the guitar rock masses out there.
