RHK's "Step Write Run" collects most of the tracks from the series of 6
12" singles on his own Alphaphone label. It most resembles Sandoz, but a
bit more techno-oriented.
His new/upcoming project is _Intoxica_ by Nitrogen. Though quite nice
overall, it is too similar to his other recent output. Fans should enjoy
it, but he really needs to add some new twists. On the other hand, I have
not heard anyone else do material quite like Kirk's, so he can get away
with it to some extent. Still, as I said about Atom Heart a while back,
it can be fascinating to examine different facets of the same gem, but
only for so long. Atom Heart has since added enough new twists, as well
as slowing his release schedule a little. Here's hoping RHK will get out
of his (admittedly productive) rut.
Cabaret Voltaire were always about static or slowly-shifting structures,
but the sounds and the way they were employed used to change a lot more
from release to release.
