yeah - virgin/our price - what are yer gonna do after you have killed vinyl? mira calix and bantha trax should be sitting in stores that actively push and promote this music and not gathering dust in the 'err. don't know which section to file it in' dept of 'music for the masses' chainstores....i was in virgin the other day and was shocked at how expensive these people are - eg 15.99 is average price for uk cd...anybody who buys music from these stores needs a good slapping... sm@4thworld

You should be telling Warp etc. that, it was after all them that decided to make it a limited edition! If they only wanted the supercool idm nobs to get a copy then maybe they would have made sure it didn't get into the hands of the Vinyl-killing megastores. And Justice for All! Bulldog.

I thought it was the invention of CD players that killed vinyl.

Muh! Either you didn't read my post properly, or else you're simply lacking a clue or two. Stuff such as Bantha Trax isn't sitting in the stores. It's sitting in a warehouse that belongs to our distributors, be it someone like Vital or Disc. Just about every other music store you care to name uses the same distributors. If you order Bantha Trax from Virgin, you'll get it from Disc's warehouse. If you order Bantha Trax from some techno specialist shop in Manchester, you'll get it from Disc's warehouse. Kind of ruins your whole argument, doesn't it?

Yeah, well not everyone in the world is a 100% IDM merchant. If it's commercial stuff you're after, the chart discounts are ideal. You won't find cheaper prices on new mass-market commercial releases outside the big chains. If it's non-IDM stuff you're after, then there's not many independents you can go to. Of course, if all you're going to buy is obscure IDM, then the big chainstores aren't ideal (and I never said they were). I use a lot of independent specialists myself, but since I work at Virgin I take whatever opportunity I can to get hold of certain items. And, of course, I get juicy staff discounts too. Ie, all of Gescom's releases only cost me a tenner in total. So, are we gonna talk about music, or have you got more sour grapes to crush? .+'''+. mark@sonance.demon.co.uk M A R K http://www.netlink.co.uk/users/sonance/ `+.,.+' http://www.sonance.demon.co.uk/

mmm.maybe it was the fact that it dosen't fit in nice shiny small plastic cases , or maybe it was the fact that some sectors of the retailing industry decided it wasn't cost effective...

yawn - spare me the lecture..i own my own shop and have worked as a buyer in both major and independant stores in the past...virgin should concentrate on their sheep mentality based market and leave the good music to people who really care about it.....

I hadn't forgotten. All I did was post up a message saying I'd ordered 'Bantha Trax' (Tusken Raiders) and 'Llanga' (Mira Calix) and asked what other people thought of them. All I get in response was some bloke going, "How dare you order them!" Lmmmn! .+'''+. mark@sonance.demon.co.uk M A R K http://www.netlink.co.uk/users/sonance/ `+.,.+' http://www.sonance.demon.co.uk/
