Hi Anyone know where the sample in "My Kingdom" is from? I thought it was cool - it reminded me of the Bladerunner Soundtrack. I was disappointed by ISDN and if the rest of the new album is like "My Kingdom", I'll have to buy it. Also I liked the Afrika Bambaataa clip - the Planet Rock tune sounded very familiar even though I had never heard the song before. Is this because I had tapped into the collective subconscious or is it just because they have sampled something else that I know I was hoping they'd show some Aphex/Autechre. I'll keep hoping. So great to see cool stuff on MTV. Rajesh, who is posting for the first time on idm

Uh, maybe because half of "Planet Rock" is lifted from Kraftwerk's "Trans Europe Express"?

I happened to catch part of AMP last night, and this was the first video I saw (I decided sleep was more important after the shit-poor prodigy video). However, I enjoyed the FSOL vid a good bit. Hence the question: Was it just my sleep-deprived state, or did it remind anyone else of the video stuff Pink Floyd has used during their last concerts? Both the "Pulse" North American tour and the tour before that had video featured during certain songs, and the similarities were sort of spooky. -detatched, mysterious characters -totally out-of place things (like the car full of balloons from a PF vid clip, and the metaball-looking things in the FSOL) Is it just a distinctly british style, or what? It is a sample of Kraftwerk. I will let you figure out which one. This is not intended as a flame but will you people that are unfamiliar with electro or Kraftwerk please, please, please take some time to become familiar? The music that you listen to has a history prior to Aphex and if you take the time to listen to the old stuff I promise that you will enjoy it. The Kraftwerk catalog of recordings and the history of electro is actually more interesting than a lot of new recordings.

It was sort of like a Clive Barker novel crossed with Independence Day, but instead of aliens you have the FSOL cgi critters. I like the look of the film in the video. I think it comes from shooting on film and then finishing on PAL video equipment. Gives it a nice grain&blur when seen in our lovely NTSC standard. _____ / ,-,_) /,_) (/ RESH Live & Direct from the G-Spot, Orange County, California, USA

The sample credits should be listed on the CD's inlay. That female vocal comes from the track 'Rachel's Song' on Vangelis' 'Blade Runner' soundtrack album. I recently bought the BR soundtrack after putting it off for a year or so. I thought I'd heard everything there was to hear in the movie itself, but that wasn't to be! The album features lots of new material that never appeared in the movie. Whilst listening to it, I couldn't help but think just how FSOL-ish the whole album sounded.

Sigh. Now I'm getting jealous. You've no idea what it's like living in the UK, having to put up with MTV Europe's total non-understanding of IDM. They seem to think it starts and stops with Robert Miles. Ah well, let's hope they import AMP. I mean, if they can import 'Singled Out', 'The Real World' and 'Beavis & Butthead', surely they can import a bloody music show! Or is that too much to ask? .+'''+. mark@sonance.demon.co.uk M A R K http://www.netlink.co.uk/users/sonance/ `+.,.+' http://www.sonance.demon.co.uk/

Not at all. Those shows should all be line up and shot. Consider it euthanasia. BEWARE OF APPARENTLY AMICABLE ACTUALLY ACRIMONIOUS ACRONYMS! MTV has about as much to do with "Music" anymore as GQ has to do with "Gentlemen". "AMP" is a welcome exception, and may just justify the monthly cable bill. 3

I was just wondering if anyone has seen anything from the new all music MTV network "M2"? The regular network was showing previews of it from time to time last week and although I haven't seen any honest to goodness IDM yet, they did show a video from "Nearly God" and an old Moby video. ************************************************************************* *"Women and wine and baths bring life's decline.
