_telegram_, in fact, an album of remixes from, i guess, her last album,
_post_. there was a triple-pack cd thingy of remixes of "possibly maybe"
out about a month ago with some good stuff on it (the talvin singh, the
plaid), but this full-lengther is just killin' me...the lfo mix of
"possibly maybe" kicks the whole thing off on a kind of downbeat electro
vibe, with bjork's breathy wisps run through a flanging talkbox to
startling effect (like a hashed-up zapp & roger...). the brodsky quartet do
a string thing after that. pretty nice, although i wish they would have
fucked with the vocals more (check the subject line if you're confused).
the third track, though, is what corked it for me. outcast's take on
"enjoy" is the sound of the world ending, with our icelandic nymph rolling
out a capella instead of all that roman violin bizniz. as i said, this
track alone justified the purchase for me, but then there's a dope dillinja
mix, panasonic's mika vainio on a gorgeous, minimal (duh) bass tangent, and
graham massey (!) putting in a beasties-sounding breakbeat funk track with
just the right amount of low-end.
anyway, ace mixes. there're a few others on there i didn't mention 'cuz
they didn't quite do it for me, but recommended overall...
