_telegram_, in fact, an album of remixes from, i guess, her last album, _post_. there was a triple-pack cd thingy of remixes of "possibly maybe" out about a month ago with some good stuff on it (the talvin singh, the plaid), but this full-lengther is just killin' me...the lfo mix of "possibly maybe" kicks the whole thing off on a kind of downbeat electro vibe, with bjork's breathy wisps run through a flanging talkbox to startling effect (like a hashed-up zapp & roger...). the brodsky quartet do a string thing after that. pretty nice, although i wish they would have fucked with the vocals more (check the subject line if you're confused). the third track, though, is what corked it for me. outcast's take on "enjoy" is the sound of the world ending, with our icelandic nymph rolling out a capella instead of all that roman violin bizniz. as i said, this track alone justified the purchase for me, but then there's a dope dillinja mix, panasonic's mika vainio on a gorgeous, minimal (duh) bass tangent, and graham massey (!) putting in a beasties-sounding breakbeat funk track with just the right amount of low-end. anyway, ace mixes. there're a few others on there i didn't mention 'cuz they didn't quite do it for me, but recommended overall... sc

I suspect it's not a compilation of her previous "possibly maybe" limited singles, but instead, a whole collection of new remix material? Lame Thread Prevention in Effect: Aaron Michelson --------------------------------------------------------------------- aw-teck'r (autechre) "Everything you Know is Wrong." Only two are new: The Outcast and Mika Vaino mixes. The rest can be found on the singles (CD and vinyl) -Naylor- _____________________________________ ___ \GothCode2.5: GoSS3Mu3??$ TJtInG \___ /\ <jnaylor@indiana.edu> )_( /cDBRp7 PLShDe M3p1w Z!!GoiTeiTez C6 \/\/\__________________________)_( / \a22+ b65T H182 g5T w6T r3bs h3_/\/\/ It was dreamt by ) (/ /s10__k2(5)__Rz___SsNy__N0993__LusIN_/ \/ Stanley Pain (___)

Is that Talvin Singh mix on the compilation? Lame Thread Prevention in Effect: Aaron Michelson --------------------------------------------------------------------- aw-teck'r (autechre) "Everything you Know is Wrong." For reviews, interviews, art & trash http://www.io.org/~amichel/ amichel@io.org

After Debut, they did a cool thing releasing the "All the best mixes from Debut for those who don't buy white labels" album for the price of a CD-single. Telegram is basically "All the best mixes from Post for those who don't buy every single remix-CD-single, only this time we'll charge full album price, and just to be sure that people will think this is a new Bjork CD, we don't have a tracklisting on the cover." For a fan(atic) who buys all the CD-singles it's a ripoff, but for the rest of you, it's a rather cool compilation...
