Well, it's certainly still better than anything else on that horrid station,
but the second edition was more problematic:
(1) Edited videos
The FSOL "My Kingdom" video and the Ken Ishii "Extra" (repeated) video
were both cut/edited. This is heresy! Show it all or don't show it.
Like we'd really miss 2 of those wretched interminable commercials.
Do *not* cut/edit the videos, please.
(2) Repeated videos
I don't mind the Ken Ishii (modulo (1) above), but what, "Cowgirl" again?
"The Box" again? (Even if it's really cool)
(3) Timing botched titles
No, that's not The Prodigy, it's C.J. Bolland.
(4) Cock teasing
Don't *EVER* play 20 seconds of "Pocket Calculator" without letting it
play all the way through ever again!!! AUGGGGGH! That's like the
prostitute pulling off and saying "Oh, you want to ORGASM! Another $100."
And if you're gonna show 10 seconds of Bambaataa & "Planet Rock" (who
thought they saw The Egyptian Lover? I musta blinked), make it the
whole shebang, please.
(5) Bristol overdose
We're getting into subjective arguments at this point, but I really can't
see Tricky/Massive Attack/Nearly God (N.G. shown on the M2 teaser right
after AMP) as being anything other than slightly evolved Old Music. One
video per episode max, please.
(6) Vocals - just say no
Besides "My Kingdom" and "The Box", most of the other videos had
prominent vocals in them. This isn't representative of our culture;
this is "let's lure 'em in with crossover appeal". (Vocal stuff -
Prodigy, C.J. Bolland, Tricky, Underworld, Massive Attack, Fluke; am I
forgetting anyone ... )
I still support the idea of AMP 100%, but please strive to keep up the quality
of the first show (original edition; incl. FSOL's "Amoeba"), AMP folks.
