Orb:
"The Orb's much delayed return has finally made it on to the Island
Records schedule; their 'Orblibion' LP will be out in March '97,
preceded by the 'Toxygene' single in early Febuary. The wired
digi-dubster will also be touring the UK in spring 97."
DMX:
"New signing to Aphex Twin's Rephlex imprint, DMX Crew, have remixed
Islamic Diggers and William Burrough's 'Hashishin' collaboration; it's
out now on Sub Rosa..."
Another note: picked up some records at the library for a quarter each.
I don't think they've ever been played. The two absolute gems: original
pressing of Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight on Sugarhill label and
Kraftwerk's Exceller8 sealed in plastic with the original sticker still
on it ("Autoban vas ein Monster: here she is, mit 7 others"). Has a
bizarre textured cover.
Gary Moscheles - Shaped To Make Your Life Easier: fucking brilliant.
Mike P's best album since Tango. Do yourself a favor. IDM exotica,
shaken-not stirred. Act now, or kick yourself for missing the free 7'.
Bought Grand Royal issue 3 today. There is a 32 page spread on the moog
that has interviews with Robert Moog, Wendy Carlos, Tim Gane (of
stereolab), and many others. Tim says he's listening to alot of Aphex
Twin and Drum and Bass at the moment. Rock on, Tim.
If someone doesn't tape the Rephlex show or Blech NYC...in the words of
Michael Corleone "You'll disapoint me." You know where to come to trade
all your IDM boots and live shows...Crazy-Gonzi.
BTW, I'm working on the official webpage for a young & wicked idm label
we all have come to love. More details soon...
