as usual, a good record came out this week and i haven't seen a drop of
discussion about it here. namely, mung's "places" ep, following on the
heals of the bowling green's "mettle" ep, and the second release from blue
planet. more bizarro spasmoid drum'n'bass inna plug/bisk/bedouin ascent
typa vein, this time with even more severe digressions into funk, jazz,
and, uh, well, i don't know what "wabsnazm"is on about, but i'm very much
in favor of it...
which leads me to a question: what's the story behind blue planet? they
seem to have some affiliation with the (former?) rising high label; the
bowling green track on _further self-evident truths_ is listed as licensed
from rising high affilate blue angel, and plug's _drum'n'bass for papa_,
which, after the various plug singles, was the first longform blue angel
release, was recently "picked up" by blue planet for distribution (for you
spotters out there the catalog number is now plan1LP/plan1cd). are blue
angel and blue planet essentially the same label? did the name change come
about when rising high dissappeared? whatsadealhere?
anyway, they're shaping up to be quite the interesting little label...
