I just bought the single "Krupa" by Apollo Four Forty on Reverb
Music/Sony UK. The cover is brown with a faded picture of man
shooting up something into his arm (The credits say it is from Otto
Preminger's film "The Man with the Golden Arm" USA 1956). It has four
tracks: the original and three remixes by Narcotic Thrust, Serotina, and
Alcatraz. The songs range from 126 to 135 bpm's and they all have their
own unique style (unlik most remixed these days). I found it in the Acid
Jazz section of my record store, but I don't know what to label it. It is
mostly beat oriented with some funny little sounds thrown in here and
there. At one point in the Alcatraz Remix a man's voice comes out of
nowhere and it says, "So you mean it's like Jazz?...yeah..but you know
it's like not!". I really like this song and would like to explore this
type of music further but the record stores in South Florida mostly carry
Trip Hop (YUCK!), so can somebody point me in the right direction in terms
of labels, groups, and stores that would carry it and do mail order?
Please backchannel all leads to me and not the list. Thanks.
Peace,
Pedro Cevallos

Now they've taken the 1st amendment, and I can say nothing about it."
