3EF continue to explore guitar/jungle terrain. Their most recent two - a 7" on Planet (featuring GZA of Wu-Tang Clan!), and a 12" of "Semtex" remixes are defiantly D&B. The remixes on 3EF's _In Version_ LP are also slanted towards noisy indie/jungle fusion. Especially AMP's, whose own album, _Sirenes_, has a few tracks of rhythm-n-noise with a D&B mode. Hood - previously a moody low-fi bunch of indie obscurantists - now throw jungle rhythms under their guitars. And Bowery Electric's new album (_Beat_) is called "Drone n Bass" by the band. Hmm... where have I heard that phrase before. :( This appears to be the 'thing' now - and all these really odd 12"s and CDs which flirt openly with jungle are popping up in very non-IDM terrain. Anyone hear ENE/KINGDOM SCUM's 12" on Eerie Themes (US)? GuerillaG-Man II on now: ? - Olento. (Whoa mama!)

I wish it did - as far as I can remember, the only real d'n'b track that's on the album is also the only track without any guitars. So far, the only examples I've found are one or two tracks by The Third Eye Foundation on his latest CD, "In Version", although those are pretty much weird industrial. Maybe there will be a d'n'b remix on a future Metallica single - there were Moby and Download remixes on the last two, so who knows who they'll enlist as remixer for the next one... Totally unrelated: is there anyone from Holland on the list who knows what's going on with Depth Charge at the Vrieshuis Amerika coming saturday?? Is he just dj-ing, or actually playing? And at what time? Maarten
