Just a little warning. Don't do what I did and buy the 'new' Salt Tank ST6 only to realise you have all the tracks (bar an edit) on ST3. ST3 = Pacific Diva/Sargasso Sea/Charged Up/Clone/Waimea Wilderness/ Charged In Zion Canyon/Eugina ST6 = Pacific Edit/Sargasso Sea/Charged Up/Pacific Diva Great tracks if you've not got 'em already though ! Jon Burrell OnNow: Jega (SKA006) Anyone know who this is on the latest Skam ?

That long vocal sample 3:00 or so into Plug's "Life of the Mind;" can anyone ID it for me? It sounds like dialogue from a film, but my friends and I are clueless as to it's origin. Otherwise, a top notch album. On now - Cylob's _Cylobian Sunset_, just about the most beautiful album this year.

So I saw the Salt Tank album for sale in England when it came out there a few months ago, but I didn't buy it (I am talking about 'Science & Nature' by the way). I came across it again today in the US, and bought it. Hmmmm, I am thinking, why didn't I get this earlier? This is rapidly becomming my favorite album of the year, right behind Redeye (FAX). So, my question is, why havent I heard of these guys before. Excuse me if they have been discussed in the past, but I need to know if they have produced any other albums. I checked the Hyperreal archive to no avail. Hess Hodge On now: ummm.... Salt Tank? -/\= Hess M. Well, I have a track by them called Sargasso Sea on the United State Of Ambience II com on Moonshine. This would be 1994 or 95. I don't know how well known they were then. Or now, for that matter. I tried to be of help! :) -Naylor- _____________________________________ ___ \GothCode2.5: GoSS3Mu3??$ TJtSeG \___ /\ <jnaylor@indiana.edu> )_( /cDBRp7 PLShDe M3p1w Z!!TeiMegTez C6 \/\/\__________________________)_( / \a22+ b65T H182 g5T w6T r3bs h3_/\/\/ It was dreamt by ) (/ /s10__k2(5)__Rz___SsNy__N0993__LusIN_/ \/ Stanley Pain (___)

Hiya, After about a week of lurking, I noticed that I could be of help. You asked about Salt Tank and why you hadnt hear of them before. Well - The last thing they released was an EP called ST5 about two years ago. This was a Peel Sessions EP. Previously they had release other EP's names ST1 to ST4. Unfortunately ST1 and ST2 are now deleted (I'd love to get hold of them). ST3 ,4 ,5 and 6 are all excellent in my opinion well worth trying to get hold of. Unless I am mistaken your Science and Nature CD (aka ST7) has a full Salt Tank discography complete with CD serial numbers on the insert card. I hope this helps. Tim PS I REALLY would love to get hold of ST1 ST2 and ST3 if anyone is willing to part with them or know where I can get them please let me know. ____________________________________________________________________________ Tim Moss SCO Client Integration Division Phone: +44 (0)1223 518034 Software Engineer Vision Park Cambridge England Phax : +44 (0)1223 518001 WWW: http://www.vision.sco.com Email: timm@sco.com

ST6 contains most of the tracks from ST3, FYI. If you've got one you probably don't need the other. C. -- cspot@hyperreal.com (Chris.Hilker)

Could a kindly person familiar with the Salt Tank oeuvre let me know how worthwhile Salt Tank 3, 4 and 5 are, and maybe what other artists they sound like? For some reason, all of them are in one place for a low price, but I can't listen first. Personal replies would be swell. In other news, I picked up the "Frosch" CD single by Mouse on Mars today, which I had previously avoided since CD singles often have too little original content for too high a price. This one is great, though, essential for anyone who likes "Vulvaland". The two versions of "Frosch" are completely different from the album version and from each other. "Schnee Bud" is the equal of any of the album tracks, IMO. While the first three are beat-oriented, the fourth track ("7000") is more in their atmospheric noise style, but still a worthwhile example of that craft.
