noting, as others have pointed out, the degree of babble about who/when/how
this twelve-inch and not a drop of what or why...perhaps no one wanted to
waste keystrokes on a release that's probably already sold out, but since i
don't give a fuck about any of that, i'll venture forth. overall, this is a
nice collection of reasonably well thought-out and constructed, slightly
humorous electro-jungle done ina less jerky HAB style. the title track is
the stormer, here, with nice, slightly melancholic bass and melody play
that makes me think of jega (although not much of the rest of the tracks
back up the comparison). the second track on the a, "friendly aside," has
"throwaway" written all over it, all repetitive rhythmic figues and not
much else...the flip is a pair of more minimal, slightly ominous percussion
pieces with an experimental drum'n'bass feel that never coelesces into
anything that could be resonably described as such (not a criticism). "dig
deep bin" has a strong dub bassline and what sounds like a goofy cutup
vocal sample, whereas "jujism" is basically the same repeating break run
through an array of effects tweaking--another one that would have, imho,
benefitted from a bit of fleshing out...the real test: would i have bought
it if it weren't limited (and if i didn't get everything at cost)? probably
not, but don't be naive...and as for who it is: god, who gives a fuck?! who
are any of these people...?
