Pardon me but if our thread was so boring, why were you reading it? Caught ya! On the Humanoid tip... I have always wondered if anyone else was into them way back when. I think Stakker Humanoid was '89. I picked that up on Westside as a single and also later found the Slam 12" as well as a full length called Global Humanoid when they came out. Am I the only one out there with the album and the Slam 12"? I always wondered about where the hell Gary Cobain came off saying shit about how he was there "from the very beginning" with Brian Dougans. I remember an album liner that spoke about Brian being transplanted to the UK from Holland I think and there was NEVER any mention of any partner in crime back then. In fact the liner notes for the Global Humanoid full length lists a bunch of production people and engineers and such but only lists a Gaz Cobain as singing in one track (which is the worst track on the album BTW). Were there any better mixes of Slam than this one 12"? It has potential but doesn't really take off. I bet if there were some instrumental remixes or something, they's be fantastic... Anyway, just trainspotting. I'd love to find the 12" of Mental Cube - Chile of the Bass Generation. I think that's one of their all time best next to Stakker Humanoid and Accelerator. One of my personal favorites is Cry Baby as well if you like acid. Sorry for being so "dull". I didn't know it was my duty to be every ones personal entertainment. _ -robert | |___ ____ ____ _____ | |_ \ / -__/ / _/ | _ \ __________ |_____/ \___\ |_| | |__/ / -studio- \ _________________________________ |_| http://icse1.ucsd.edu/~rcurlee/ \

i don't have the 12" but i do have the album which i picked up in summer of 1990. it is mostly unbearably bad though. for some reason (sentimental?) i haven't sold it.

yep yep yep, you're right on there. the only old FSOL-related 12" i have is Mental Cube "So This is Love" which is great. chile of the bass generation is amazing. there was a time when it was de rigeur for it to be played at least once (and usually twice) per evening at san francisco parties. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Drukman jsd@cyborganic.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slam 12" is imo the worst thing ever. My roomate has this and I listened to it and cringed. Oh well, Stakker Humanoid is the bomb.

I have the Humanoid single - SLAM, it is total shite. I liked Stakker Humanoid it is a great track. After hearing Slam, I stayed away from their full-length. I also have Q - Mental Cube by them. On now: Mr Fingers - Can You Feel It B i l l S a m u e l s w l s @ U . A r i z o n a . E D U

Indeed. That track was massive. One of the biggest acid/techno tracks in the UK at the time. I was well into acid and techno by then, having been into house from way back in 86. In fact on Friday I celebrate 10 years since buying my first house record, well it was a dance compilation called "Upfront 1" which contained Steve Silk Hurley's "Jack Your Body", which didn't get released as a single till after Christmas. I remember thinking "Slam" was shite, and not even bothering with the LP thinking it was a pity they'd been such a one off. then later on the Pulse EPs started appearing and the realisation started dawning on me (and everyone else) that half of Jumpin' and Pumpin's (the better half at that) release roster was all the same guys. Then before you know, wierd shit like "Apex twins" (or something) started appearing in the shops... :) J ^ __________ ________.__/_____ _||_/ James Skilton aka Steady J _[]/_____________[.__\____-_ DJ and Party Animal | | Part Time Hedonist |____________________________| Full Time Technohead |__|-' '-|__| Steady-J@Firefox.co.uk Autechre and SKAM discogs: http://subnet.virtual-pc.com/~sk393820/

Well, was into Humanoid too. Got those 12"'es and the album. Stakker is an all-time classic. The follow-up which appeared on Acido Amigo (someone outthere got to have it too!) Cry Baby was a good shot too. The album sucked, as Slam did , it had rap all over it. It was released in time ('89) hiphouse came in (Tyree, Fast Eddie) remember? Also Reese (You're mine) went into hiphouse :) .................................................................. ............ peel re:seamus /////////????????????/ /?????????%%%%%%%%%########$^^^^^^^^*&%^*&*#@!$#@$$@$#@!$# ....................... wwwedu.cs.utwente.nl/~wielen/ delsin ..............................................................

There is a pretty good remix called "Bass invaders" which has the rapper yelling "This is Humanoid! Humanoid! Yeah! Yeah! Humanoid! Yeah! This is Humanoid!" all the time. ;-) OnNow: Polygon window - Quoth Johan. ,,, /'~'\ ( 0 0 ) +----------------------------oOOO--(_)--OOOo----------------------------+ Johan Jaatinen AniAg@Info.LiU.SE Music maker and dreamer of the dreams Oooo. +46-(0)13-15 84 23 (Stow too) .oooO ( ) MU WILL RISE AGAIN +-----------------------------( )----) /------------------------------+ \ ( (_/ \_)
