A band that has released 4 albums, numerous singles and been around since the late 80's, doing music that has now come into vogue... mainly the trip hop genre. I thoroughly recommend their 1990 release "In Dub". Still as fresh today as the day it was recorded! As for the 4 albums titles they are: Soundclash In Dub How Ya Doin The Next Chapter Of Dub Has anybody got a track-listing for the 'greatest hits' compilation? On another note I had the pleasure of seeing RSW play live live for $12 Aus (about 5 pounds) bloody brilliant with live guitar, drumming and scratching mixed seemlessy with the keyboards and other usual bits. If you ever get the chance see them live they'll blow your mind. :) Regards, John /-------------------------------------------------------------------\ | JOHN BUS (aka. Agreed. I wouldn't really consider either "In Dub" or "The Next Chapter Of Dub" as albums though... `remix albums' definitely, but neither are albums in the true sense of the word. For such an amazing band, I could *never* figure out why they were always soooo unproductive? So much potential, so much talent, yet so little output after "In Dub". The last batch of releases were so astonishingly bland and disappointing... after waiting years and years, "How You Doin?" comes out and I about want to throw up. What in the hell happened?

Wow, deja vu - John, you and I had the same argument last year about RSW's live performance. Not that they'll ever tour again, but I say skip it. When I saw them live in Orlando, Florida during the `Mute Over Amerika' tour (for $10), and they were absolutely horrible. No, that's not what I was trying to convey. It's just that when you've been waiting and waiting for one of your favorite bands to play, and then it's announced that they are finally going to tour, then you really start looking forward to it. And when you're actually there at the show, and you're digging the music and the whole scene, but then the band just stops playing after four songs... ^^^^^ ...it's kind of a let down to say the least. ---------- End of Forwarded Message ---------- ...they acted like they didn't want to be there. They had such a shitty attitude on stage - one of the guys walked off after about two of the songs, and Danny left during the third (didn't even finish the vocals). Eventually it was just the drummer and a dj... *amazingly* their music was still playing (wow, they must have been doing it by remote control backstage). And lately, that's how their music sounds. `Contractual commitment' is right on the spot. I mean, what in the hell are they doing now anyway? If they're not musicians anymore, then I guess they've got `real' jobs? What a shame. Although I have "The Next Chapter of Dub" I don't have "How Ya Doin" so I can't comment on "The Next..." being a remix album, BUT I do have both "Soundclash" and "In Dub" and if you think that having 3 remixes and the other 7 remaining tracks being totally unrelated to "Soundclash" a remix album I think you're sorely mistaken.

One of the guy's left the band at that point, if my memory serves me correctly.

Was it the four-piece band including the Jamacian on turntables, a guy on bongos and other wierd and wonderful drums, a guitarist (who i'll admit was a poser but played his guitar extremely well in the context of the type of music) and of course the keyboards, et al?? Maybe because there we other bands when you saw them on the same bill, and the fact that they might have been tired from over-touring? They had one Sydney gig, blew the top off the venue and returned to England. I'd go as far as saying that this was one of the best gigs I have ever been too, and I have been to some big ones. It was like all the bests bits from the 1st 2 albums + the last x 10! :) As for deja vu... you have a good memory. :) Regards, John

Yeah you're probably right about that. What I was trying to say though was that "Soundclash" was an album in itself, which featured definite *songs*. "In Dub" on the other hand, is mainly an album's-worth of tracks which have mainly been derived from the tracks on "Soundclash". Ok, it's *not* a remix album so much as it is a companion to "Soundclash". Can I call it a `dub' album instead? Hey, they did. ;}

I wonder about that... was Karl Bonnie the *real* talent of RSW? Or was he just one in three that made a good mixture? Regardless, without him RSW is now sub-par.

Actually no. There was Karl Bonnie, Gary Asquith, Danny Briotett, a famous dj (I want to say Derrick May?), and that dancer from the "Biting My Nails" video. That's it. Actually, that's probably also why they weren't any good - it sounds like you had the full line-up.

Actually, no. They were the only band playing. It was a `tour' showcasing MUTE USA, with them as the performing label-artist. I have no idea why they played a +/- twenty minute set? I have heard they did the same at other shows in other towns during the same tour though.

You are a lucky bastard. It seems that we here in the States got the short end of the stick when it comes to seeing RSW live. That was probably the only time they will ever come to the US too..
