Has anybody heard when the Andrea Parker full-length is coming out on MO WAX. Speaking of Mo Wax, Carl Craig's - Bug in the Bassbin remixes were suppose to come out ages ago. Luke Vibert is also suppose to have a full length on Mo Wax.

funny, i think you quoted the answer to half your question(s)!! OK, IDM...you want music? you want music-related opinionry... Here's what i can tell you... (as far as I know...i.e. i'm not the law ont his stuff) As far as solo work, she's got two ep's (STILL IN PRINT, of course) on the Mo' Wax label. melodious thunk (95, CD and 12") the rocking chair (96, CD and 2x12"....uhh, buy the CD) both...INCREDIBLE. "melodious" has incredible low-frequency eeriness to it. beautifully percussion-laden, almost tribal. a truly DARK, entrancing aura about it. the b-sides include said "atacama giant" and two others. these 3 aren't as good as "melodious" IMHO, but produced in very much the same style as the "thunk" piece. dark, BASSY instrumentals with some strings in there.....all DARK yet hauntingly beautiful at the same time. an EP i HIGHLY recommend. as far as "the rocking chair"...astonishing in it's OWN way. slower, this time, CELLO and strings are prominent. stark, sad (as in beautiful sadness!) quality to it. no 'real' b-sides (other than a quick interlude piece) per se, but remixes by andrea herself (the ELECTRIC CHAIR mix, i.e. no strings), attica blues ('nother mo' wax staple), and someone else i forget. regardless, an EP completely worth it for the single version alone. there's also a new Andrea Parker song on (the forthcoming) TEX 5, the track is called "unconnected". here's what has been said about though...

in addition, ms. parker's done a remix for lamb's third single, "god bless"... an OUTSTANDING 8 minute epic of typical andrea electro-bass groove, with eery strings attached...great stuff. but you know what may REALLY catch your ear is her work with david morley on the "angular art" EP (infonet 95). 4 tracks of instrumental ambience (morley's infl) and andrea's almost-tribal, stark percussion. the b-side cuts ("undercurrents" and "after dark") are probably my favorite parker tracks next to "melodious")....so very dark and brooding and CHILLING.... and just when you thought i'd shut up....i can say that select magazine did a thing on her in dec '96 "first bass" (dance music pages section whatever) where she lists some of her favorite releases....and what's #3??? gescom: "sounds of machines our parents used" HELL YEAH! (uhh, nice pick there IMNSHO) that's what i can tell you... ASG (thanx to the wise one, ACM, for the intro to andrea's work)

Just talked to Andrea Parker about her remix of Steve Reich. She says that Mo Wax UK is still hassling with the new Island/Polygram/Universal conglomerate so no date has been set for her album to be released there. If and when it does get released it will have different art work than the Japanese release but the same tracks. Right now she is at David Morley's studio in Germany recording, but doesn't know for what label. She will be doing a DJ tour in North America in March.
