Conversely you have the argument a mate of mine put forward about "Bytes" and its "Phils"; that some of them are so good and should develop into a song, but don't leaving you disappointed. He went as far as saying that some Phils are even better than the songs on the album. Personally I wouldn't go that far, but I do agree with him that some of them would have made great songs if developed further. The only think that really annoys me about "Bytes" is that they didn't index the "Phils" so the track listing, which only appears in a readable form on the cd, is next to useless. I haven't got "Spanners" yet (although I have everything else) did they index the "bolts" for this?

They actually do release ep's. I suggest you take a look at the Black Dog web site at: http://www.feedback.com/tbd/index.html Regards, John (looking forward to the imminent release of new Black Dog material!) /-------------------------------------------------------------------\ | JOHN BUS (aka. arrgh! wish they hadn't , it would save us a lot of time chasing up and down the country after that illusive copy of "Age of Slack" , check out the GPR site (can't remember URL) for full listing of B.D. singles on label (11 or 12 I think!!! ,Andy Turner also co-produced Seagulls) and also B.D> site for the gaps, they seem to be impossible to find nowadays , wheras only year and a half ago , seemed to pop up all the time . sonic assassin@4th world records http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/4thworld on now - david moufang - solitare (fax)

First, let my apologize for my use of the word “crap”, and for my ignorance as to the previous war that went on over Black Dog vs. Plaid thing. I work in a record store and have many customers who were in love with the older Black Dog releases. When “Music for Adverts” come out as an expensive import, lots of people bought it and few of them liked it. This happens and is no big thing. However when we found out that two of the three members had left the band and the remaining member continued under the same name, the general feeling was that we had been ripped off by someone trying to cash in on the reputation of Black Dog. In any case, calling another musician’s work “crap” does not demonstrate an intelligent or informed opinion. Again I apologize and will give the new material a listen. I do feel the need to point out that I was giving my honest if ill-considered opinion about a piece of music, and the responses that I received were mostly rude personal attacks. I hope that this issue will die right here, if anyone feels the need to respond, please do it privately. Thank you. Rychard
