Found a Reflective compilation from '94 at Tower last night entitled _Synoptics_. Anyone have any info on some of the artists [vulva, skuff, m.l.o.]? Some really sweet stuff. My AI comp would look something like this : Funk in space ! | Kenny Larkin Telefone 529 | B12 Bike | Autechre World War Three | Richard H. Kirk Quino-phec | Polygon Window Bike Pump Meets Bucket | Polygon Window Lowride | Autechre Merck | Black Dog Harmonics | Kenny Larkin A Tribute to Peter Cook | Reload

vulva have a great debut album on Rephex entitled, "From the Cockpit." They also have a 12" on Reflective, and if I'm correct, a forthcoming album...but I can't remember for whom. From the Cockpit is worth hunting down for some very quirky uptempo techno. More beatdriven then the 12". Lame Thread Prevention in Effect: Aaron Michelson --------------------------------------------------------------------- aw-teck'r (autechre) "Everything you Know is Wrong." This is a sadly neglected album that repays careful listening. It sounds diarmingly conventional until it's had enough time to really insinuate itself into the subsconscious. Their album as Yoni on Source is also quite good, although not as consistent. "Vulvic Voyager" on the Rephlex album is one of prettiest songs I've ever heard. Any more info on upcoming work from these two?

Dj, DK>My AI comp would look something like this : .. .. My idea of a great AI comp would be an hour of silence, then 'Island' by Balil. If you have that track, you don't need any other music. I had to laugh when I read this - I bought this compilation the other day. I had seen it in the store bin for 2 years (!), didn't buy it since it shows no artist listing. Finally, the store owner said - "Just take it for $6, as no one is buying it!" So I did, and was pleasantly surprised to see the artist listing. As for the artists, some are easy enough to find full-lengths for (for example, Jonah Sharp, Spacetime Continuum). Most I have not seen full-lengths for (such as Velocette, which someone was recently seeking in vain on the ambient list). This compilation is well worth seeking out for those who've missed it. Includes an appropriately mirrored CD cover. The Single Cell Orchestra cut ("Call Me") is just luscious and chill-inducing. The rest of the selections are on the same level of quality.
