1. The Theory of Evolution compilation being mentioned all the time, does anybody know the Warp compilation, "Evolution of the Groove"? Is this also a compilation of material from Evolution records? How is it compared to The Theory of E.? 2. Does anybody know whether the "Tortoise vs Oval - Music for Workgroups e.p." is out allready? Or is it old and out of print? Thanks, Karl-Michael.

No, the title is a reference to the changing sounds in the earlier years at warp, as it was a follow on to "Pioneers of the hypnotic groove" All the tracks were taken from previously released singles. Here's the tracklist (from http://www.warp-net.com/albums/a05.html) Coco Steel & Lovebomb: Feel It 07:30 LFO: Syndrome 04:51 Rhythm Invention: Can't Take It (Cold Cellar Mix) 06:15 Wild Planet: Electron 04:52 DSR: Trust City 05:45 Coco Steel & Lovebomb: Touch It (Sandy Shaw Mix) 06:50 Nightmares on Wax: A Case of Funk 05:19 Kid Unknown: Nightmare 05:52 DSR: Babaloo 06:06 Damn fine stuff, but a far cry from what WARP are putting out now. Evolution of the Groove was the first compilation released on Warp , contained early material by first generation Warp artists (89-91) 'Sweet Exorcist','Forgemasters','LFO', 'Tricky Disco','The Step' 'Tuff Little Unit','Nightmares on Wax' and 'Dj Mink' were on it , I don't have a copy to hand so can't specify track details! Essential listening if you haven't heard these tunes. The Oval V Tortoise thing is a remix of the whole "Millions Living" album!! by those naught cd abusing Germans , limited to only 1500 comes out on 1st July in UK. sonic assassion http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/4thworld

4th world communication before any smart arse replys to my last post , I listed the artists from the wrong Warp compilation , the one I was talking about was in fact "Pioneers of the Hypnotic Groove" , "Evolution of the Groove" was the Follow Up!!! . The old memory's not wot it used to be! sonic assassin@4thworld on now Noel Howard - To be or Not to Be (Mayday Rmx) 106056,2751@compuserve.com http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/4thworld
