"As if suddenly, we were buddies." Is there any point to responses like this? It's really perplexing to me that in a style of music like this that doesn't get a lot of exposure and is largely driven by word-of-mouth, that obstacles would be placed in the way of info and artists that people are curious about. Is there a legitimate concern that hype or profits might be piggybacked that would call for counterintelligent tactics? Cryptic tack-ons implying additional witheld info ain't no way to treat your mates, either. I guess people really go for those Rephlex head-games. eric

To some people, their whole life revolves around it, so they are less than casual with information that puts them in a position of apparent power. Head-games are for those who have little else in their grasp. Fair enough Eric - but there is a large gap between an artist saying that they'll possibly release something and having the information spread that the release is imminent. A lot of shit can happen between those two events and ultimately the best result is to stay quiet until it's pretty certain that the something (whether it's a hot new release, live gig or whatever) will actually happen. Or would you want to be disappointed?

I certainly do - sure, it can occasionally be irritating but I'd rather have a label like Rephlex surprising me, than some label that regularly and monotonously keeps to it's release schedule with 12"s that were announced a few years previously. || [CiM] || s.walley@uea.ac.uk || http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~u9323899/

Uhm, yeah, cos it's fun :) Bur seriously I probably gave away more than I should with *that* post. There was a rather unsubtle hint as to mix content in there. Nobody says we have to make it easy for you. As soon as I have a signed contract, then you get the full info. But before that I could my myself look a right plonker if something fell through, or mixes didn't happen or anything. You lot would be the first to complain if say a Plaid mix actually turned out to be Autechre mix, then oops sorry projects cancelled. My Mike Ink post was quite calculated. I can't really comment on the project for the reasons above, but I did implicitly imply that the project existed and slipped you a cryptic clue for good measure. so there :) g.
